There is an air of blame game that is dominating the Huzurabad by-election. The blame is not opposition parties taking on ruling party for corruption and failures; or the ruling party is not into the blame game of pointing fingers at opposition parties. A new trend has been started in Huzurabad election campaign. Each party is blaming all the other to have colluded and support a candidate to defeat the other!
All the three major political parties in Telangana – Congress, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Telangana Rastra Samiti (TRS) – have been accusing each other of colluding with the other. These accusations have been in the air since the day Election Commission of India (ECI) announced the by-election dates for Huzurabad.
The accusations and counter accusations reached a boiling point with the TRS working president KT Rama Rao alleging that the BJP candidate Eatala Rajender is the joint candidate of BJP and Congress. KTR accused that “both the national parties have come to an understanding to defeat the powerful TRS in the Huzurabad by-election.” TRS party cadre have to an extent blaming that, once the elections are over BJP’s Vivek Venkataswamy along with Eatala and other leaders will jump into Congress.
Before KTR’s blame game, Congress has been alleging that TRS and BJP have colluded and hence the TRS had fielded lesser-known candidate against Eatala. “KCR and KTR have decided to defeat Congress at any cost and for this they have decided to join hands with BJP and are planning to defeat Congress candidate,” said senior Congress leader at Gandhi Bhavan.
Similarly, BJP is blaming that TRS and Congress have joined hands and are supporting single candidate and trying to defeat BJP’s Eatala.
The basic things that all the politicians seem to be practicing is that “my enemy’s enemy is my friend.” Following this principle, the political parties are trying to collude or at least blaming the collusions to win over others. “This blame game is not going anywhere. Everyone is aware that politicians are like chameleons and change colours as per need. So the strategy is only to win the elections and later think about ideologies,” said veteran political analyst in Hyderabad.
One will have wait and watch if the strategy of blaming colluded candidates will work in favour of any one candidate in Huzurabad!
