Amidst multiple concerns of the new COVID-19 variant Omicron, the BCCI decided to send the team India to South Africa for playing the test series. The test series will begin on 26th December in South Africa. The BCCI selection committee officially made the announcement of the team and also made a crucial decision about the captaincy.
The All India Senior selection committee of the BCCI decided to name Rohit Sharma as the captain of Team India in the One Day Internationals as well as T20 Internationals going forward. Virat Kohli announced that he will step down as the captain but will continue to lead the team in Tests.
Rohit Sharma is the new captain of the Team India in ODIs and T20s. He will also be leading the team as vice-captain in Tests.
