BCCI: Fans demand BCCI to drop Rahane and Pujara

Published by Sri Ram On November 28, 2021

BCCI: Chateshwar Pujara and Ajinkya Rahane have been vital players in Indian Test Cricket for the last few years. The duo had delivered many successful knocks in the past and helped Team India in winning various Test matches. But now, it looks like they are in the final stages of their career because of their consistent poor performances in the recent past. Their latest failure in the ongoing Test match against New Zealand has made fans angry, who are now demanding the BCCI to drop the duo from the team.

Both Pujara and Rahane failed to lift India’s momentum when it was in trouble during this test. Pujara scored 26 runs from 88 balls in the first innings and Rahane scored 35 off 63. Due to their poor knocks, India went into a bit of trouble in the first innings. But the vital partnership of Shreyas Iyer and Ravindra Jadeja helped the team in getting a respectable score.

Could be the last match for Pujji and Rahane. Good time to go and play a few Ranji Trophy games to get back in the groove

The duo failed once again in the second innings and have pushed India into deeper trouble. Pujara scored 22 off 33 and Rahane scored 4 off 15 in the second innings. All of a sudden, India’s score became 41/3 after their dismissals. Once again, both the batters failed to help the team when it is in trouble.

In the last 21 innings he played, Rahane managed to score only 398 runs. There are two half-centuries in this tally. He scored his last century in Melbourne in December 2020. Pujara’s case is even worse. He scored his last century in January 2019. Since then, he was a part of most of India’s Test matches but failed to score a ton.

India’s management and Kohli should regret badly for not playing Shreyas Iyer till now and backing players like Pujara and Rahane for eternity. Please learn something @BCCI @imVkohli . Iyer can be at 3 and Gill at 5. Don’t use too much brain and get the basics wrong😤 .

Fed up with the duo’s consistent failures, fans are now demanding the selectors to drop them. Here are some of the reactions on Twitter:

Hmm so shreyas Iyer, someone who isn’t even rated as a test player is about to top score both innings in his debut test
in the side which has experienced 35 year olds”tEst sPecIaliSts” like Rahane and Pujara 👏👏
