In a very tragic incident, at least 16 people have been killed and 30 others injured after a massive fire broke out at an office building. The incident took place in Mundka in Delhi at around 4:45 pm on Friday. The police said that around 60-70 people have been rescued from the building. A total of nine fire brigades were rushed to the spot to control the situation. An ambulance also reached the site of the accident to provide immediate medical assistance to the victims. The fire is yet to be extinguished.
A preliminary inquiry has revealed that the building was generally used for providing office space to companies, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Outer Delhi) Sameer Sharma has said.
According to the police the fire broke out on the first floor of the building, which serves as the office for a company that manufactures CCTV cameras and routers.
